Welcome to HCV Advocate’s Hepatitis C (HCV) Medications blog. The intent of this blog is to keep our website audience up-to-date on information about hepatitis meds. People are encouraged to submit questions and post comments.
Navigating this site:
Here you can click on a specific Genotype and go to the page which gives a short description of each medicine that applies to the Genotype, presented in descending Approval Date order; there you can click to “read more” about each one. You can return to this page by clicking on “Welcome”. To the right of the Genotype buttons are the Terms and PAP buttons. You can click on the Terms to read about commonly used terms used on the Medications blog. You can click on the PAP to learn about various patient assistance programs that may cover some of the cost of the drugs.
Right side Panel
Here you can use the buttons in the first block (List of Meds by Genotype x) to see a list of all medications currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the specific “x” Genotype. When you click on a particular medicine, you will go to the page of the latest information we have about that particular medication.
Here you can also select a particular medication in the Index of Medications to go directly to a summary of that medication’s post.
Note: Instead of listing all of the cure rates included in the Highlights of Prescribing Information, I have attempted to match the FDA recommended treatment guidelines to the cure rates in the Highlights of Prescribing Information. The cure rates I have listed are approximate, or I have listed a range of rates because there was not an exact match between the FDA recommendation and the clinical trial data. On each specific drug page, a link is provided to the Highlights of the Prescribing Information that details all of the prescribing information including the clinical trial data.
